Beloved

Ephesians 3:17-19 (NIVUK)
And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know his love that surpasses knowledge that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

These verses form part of a prayer that Paul had prayed for the Ephesians. Paul wanted them to begin to understand and then fully comprehend how much God loved them. He knew that if they could get a glimpse of his love, it would have a huge impact on the rest of their spiritual lives. 

This scripture should also impact us personally as followers of Jesus, for it speaks of the rich and deep love of Christ, which is beyond our knowledge and understanding. The Father’s love is like an endless stream that constantly pours into our hearts and minds, reminding us that we are loved beyond measure in Christ. 

How comforting it is to be reminded of God’s character in these verses: the One who is portrayed as a doting Father who cherishes his children and desires to fill us intimately from the depths of his love. Are there times that you need to be reminded of the Father’s wide and long and high and deep love? When trials and oppositions come like a thief in the night, do you cry out to God to hear his loving voice? Are you pressing into God’s love today? Just know that God truly loves you and yearns for an intimate relationship with his beloved children. 

It is my prayer and heartfelt cry that God roots and establishes his love in you and me, reminding us, day in and day out, that we are beloved. The One who created you wants to tell you today that his love goes beyond the natural, earthly realms - it reaches and pierces right into your heart and soul. 

Beloved, isn’t it time that you start to realise how much the Father values, cherishes, and loves you even when you are at your worst? 

Prayer - Lord, help me to know the measureless love in Christ and fill me with your Spirit.
