Day 19 —The Blessing
Numbers 6:22-27
The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, ‘Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, “Thus you shall bless the people of Israel: you shall say to them,
The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
So shall they put my name upon the people of Israel, and I will bless them.”’
The song ‘The Blessing’ by Cody Carnes, Kari Jobe and Elevation Worship has struck a chord across the Church worldwide. Its timing seems uncanny. What else could we possibly need right now other than to know the blessing of God? This is our prayer:
May His favour be upon you
And a thousand generations
And your family and your children
And their children and their children
May His presence go before you
And behind you and beside you
All around you and within you
He is with you, He is with you
In the morning, in the evening
In your coming and your going
In your weeping and rejoicing
He is for you, He is for you
Amen.
God’s name is written on our hearts and lives, as it says in our verses today: ‘So shall they put my name upon the people, and I will bless them’. And even before this blessing in the book of Numbers, God speaks to Moses saying, ‘My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.’ (Exodus 33:14)
So today rest in God’s love and blessing and align yourself with the knowledge that we are marked by him to be carriers and couriers of his presence, light, love and life.
Prayer: Speak and sing this Blessing over yourself today! AMEN!
