It’s Time To Dive Deep
Psalm 5:11(NIV)
All who take refuge in you rejoice.
So getting straight into it, how are you and I supposed to experience God as holy other than just saying God you are holy'?
This question is relatively easy to think about but a lot harder to put into our hearts and daily practice. To take refuge in God's holiness is an awesome thing. Psalm 5:11 says, 'All who take refuge in you rejoice.' To rejoice is to be joyful. God is most hallowed in our hearts when we are most joyful in his holiness.
To experience God as holy, we must:
1. Honour him, his word and his commands found in the Bible. We must obey his ten commandments, we must love him with all our heart, soul and mind, we must love others like Christ loves us.
2. We must never lose our awe and reverence of him, recognising he is more pure and powerful than we can ever imagine.
3. We must treasure the name of God in Christ and make Jesus the most valued person in our lives. We have no other God but him. Is that really true of us?
These three can only become reality for us as we spend time and build intimacy with him.
As we take a daily 'dive' into the Scriptures, as we intentionally open our hearts in prayer, as we raise our voice in honest worship, as we follow Jesus into mission, we receive something of his awesome holiness. This is how we take refuge in his holy name.
How much are you valuing, treasuring and loving God's holiness today?
Prayer - Lord, thank you that we can rejoice in our refuge in you. Help me to take the next step into valuing, treasuring and loving your holiness today.
