So We Share

Luke 2:16-18 (NIV) —

‘So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.’

The shepherds were in the middle of nowhere in the darkness of night. Keeping guard over their sheep by torch light. Unseen, unimportant, when suddenly they are brought into the greatest story ever told.

In an instant, darkness is turned to blinding light, an angel of the Lord appears and the glory of the Lord shines all around. They’ve come to tell, not of a physical light, but the TRUE light, coming into the world and shining into the darkness. It comes in the form of a baby boy wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.

Today's reflection is simple, ‘When they had seen him, they spread the word… and all who heard it were amazed.’ Or as the British Transport Police would say ‘See it, Say it, Sorted.’

Have you seen him? Isn’t he wonderful? Isn’t he radiant? Isn’t he beautiful?

Then go and spread the word!

There are people living in darkness who need to be amazed by the light. Who need their lives transformed by him. Who need to be healed by him, restored by him, redeemed by him. If your friend needed a doctor, you would not hesitate to drive them to the hospital. So why would we not bring them to Jesus, healer of our souls. Every single need is met in him.

The birth of Jesus is good news for all, we can’t hide it or keep it to ourselves. Instead, we take this light and we shine it into the darkest places.

Who can you share Jesus with this Christmas? Who needs to hear of our Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace?

Prayer - Jesus, help me to share your light with the people around me. May I see your kingdom come through me.
