The Greatest Entrepreneur

John 3:16 (NIV)

For this is how God loved the world: he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.

What has this got to do with business?

Jesus' story is the most told story in the whole of history. This is because it contains so many valuable lessons that have had a powerful impact on people for over 2000 years. Our text, John 3:16 is where it all begins. For an entrepreneur in business, it’s impossible to achieve greatness unless, right from the beginning, the end purpose is clear. An entrepreneur sets out purposely towards their goal prepared to take on the risks that lie ahead. Jesus had a clear purpose for coming to the world – to save humanity from eternal damnation and give eternal life. Jesus knew what his life-business was and the incredible risk he was taking: to die a horrible death so that you and I could have eternal life.

What is your purpose? Ephesians 2:10 says 'For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.'

Jesus had a message. His message was the good news of salvation and the establishing of God's kingdom on earth. It was compelling! 'Seek first his kingdom' and all these things will be given to you as well' (Matthew 6:33). Going after the one important thing and having everything else added is certainly good news!

What is your message? What message does your life speak out?

Jesus had a chosen audience, 'I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners' (Matthew 9:13) Let’s not try to be everything to everyone - be something to someone. In response to the Holy Spirit's guidance (we need to ask!) let's position ourselves intentionally to share his message.

Who is your audience? Who are you being called to share the good news with? Are you in the right place to do that?

Prayer — Father, we thank you for your purpose which inspires ours: it helps us to discover who we are and why we are here. You give us a message of hope, so please give us eyes to see those around us to whom we can pass it on.
