Celebrate!

1 Chronicles 16: 31-34(NIV)

Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad;
let them say among the nations, 'The Lord reigns!'

Let the sea resound, and all that is in it;
let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them!

Let the trees of the forest sing,
let them sing for joy before the Lord,
for he comes to judge the earth.

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
his love endures forever.

It’s Friday! The end of the week! You may have big weekend plans, excited the week is over. You could be wishing the week wouldn’t end. Wherever you are, let’s take a moment together and celebrate what God has done this week.

As I think back over this week, I am reminded of God’s goodness. His goodness in the moments where we're weak, when we can't take another step. His goodness in those times where we 're thriving. One of the things that I love about God is that he doesn’t fit in any box I create. He is not: ‘Here are these 5 Steps you have to do to experience my love and goodness.' He wants to be with us just as and where we are.

I love the song ‘Great Things' by Phil Wickham and what it communicates:

‘'Come let us worship our King, come let us bow at his feet, he has done great things. You've been faithful through every storm, you’ll be faithful forevermore, you have done great things’

It’s so true. When I look back, I know that I have experienced God’s goodness in every circumstance of my life. Maybe it didn’t look exactly how I expected, but God has been faithful. I tend to forget that so easily, especially when things are tough. God's past faithfulness to me, reminds me that he is faithful now and will be in my future.

Look back at your week. As easy or as hard as it may have been, find God there. Find his goodness, his love, his faithfulness. Now celebrate that and next week when that meeting goes poorly, you feel alone at work or home, you find out hard news or whatever may come, remember how God has been there with you all along.

Prayer — God, we take time now to celebrate: to celebrate your goodness and the great things that you have done in our lives this week. Thank you for your faithfulness!
