His Glory Revealed In Us
John 9:2-3 (NIV) —
‘His disciples asked him, 'Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?'
'Neither this man nor his parents sinned,' said Jesus, 'but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.'
Life can be pretty unfair at times. We just get past the previous obstacle when another one rears its ugly head. As a result, we spend a lot of time trying to understand the reason why we, or others we know, face trials, suffering or tragedies.
We don’t have the answers to these questions - and the reality of faith is that we never will until we finally meet him face to face. What we do have is a God who wants to display his glory and love to us and through us - a father whose desire is to give us good gifts. What an incredible promise that no matter the trial, the God we worship is working out everything for our good!
Romans 8:28 'And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.'
The disciples walked the earth in company with Jesus: they were at the heart of his ministry and even they didn’t understand the complexity of his ways or get all their questions answered. This gives me some comfort when I face doubts or try to find my own solutions.
The longing for my life is that God's good purposes might be displayed through me. That I would be infectious with the life of the Spirit to everyone with whom I come into contact. And I’m so grateful that God’s desire is to do this in and through me in ways I don’t understand or even need to understand. Let's pray for perseverance to follow and trust him through every twist and turn of our lives.
Prayer — Father, thank you that you desire to use me for your glory and my joy. Thank you that you have the answers, so I don’t need them.
