Intimacy With God
Psalm 25:14 (TPT)
There's a private place reserved for the devoted lovers of Yahweh, where they sit near him and receive the revelation-secrets of his promises.
Intimacy: two of the many ways of defining this important word are 'deep knowledge' and 'closeness.' In order to be intimate, there must be an existing relationship. To be intimate with God there must be a relationship with him through Jesus.
If you are not sure or have never asked to start a relationship with him, today you can invite him into your life and begin a new friendship with God. But how do we arrive at that place of intimacy with God suggested in this translation of Psalm 25 where we 'receive the revelation-secrets of his promises'.
With all our close relationships, we need to invest in them to grow them. From today’s reading you see the desire of God to be in an intimate relationship with you. Which is mind-blowing! His love for us is without question but, many times, ours for him is more doubtful. But his invitation to intimacy remains. The scripture explains: when we accept this invitation and 'sit near him' in worship, in prayer, in communion, in his Word, he can reveal the secrets of his promises to us, speaking his loving truths deep into our minds and souls.
In summary, the frequency of our fellowship with Jesus determines our intimacy with him. Our finite mind cannot comprehend the depths of an inexhaustible and almighty God. Our cognitive abilities don’t cut it but when we tarry in his presence, he reveals himself to us. Seek intimacy today by spending time with him in worship, the Word and prayer.
Prayer: Father help me to grow in intimacy with you.
