Kingdom

Hebrews‬ 12‬‬:28-29‬ (MSG)‬‬‬‬

Do you see what we’ve got? An unshakable kingdom! And do you see how thankful we must be? Not only thankful, but brimming with worship, deeply reverent before God. For God is not an indifferent bystander. He’s actively cleaning house, torching all that needs to burn, and he won’t quit until it’s all cleansed. God himself is Fire!

We have an unshakable kingdom which we have been brought into by the grace of our God. We are thankful, and reverent, having deep respect for our God. He is the God who is, in another translation, is a 'consuming fire.'

Our world is filled with confusion and instability socially, politically, spiritually. What is stable and unshakeable? The kingdom of God – this is a kingdom in which we can confidently put our trust because the king is awesome!

These verses challenge me so much – how do I respond to the coming of the kingdom of God to this earth? I pray it would be with reverence to the king and in awe of who he is, leading me to being consumed by the fire of God which refines and sends me out to represent the unshakable kingdom to an unstable world.

I love when it says that God is 'actively cleaning house and torching all that needs to burn,' meaning daily he is getting rid of everything that needs to go from our lives and not stopping until it’s done, making us more and more like Jesus – you and I are constantly being refined by the Spirit of Jesus.

We are a part of the unshakeable kingdom so today let’s consciously be grateful, deeply reverent and in awe, allowing the king to refine us and consume us with his fire, making us single-minded about doing all he has called us to do!

Prayer God, thank you so much for your unshakable kingdom, I’m in awe of you. Consume me with your holy fire to make me more like Jesus.
