Live Forever

Psalms 23:6 (NIV) —

‘Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.’

Life on earth is short, it will end no matter what! But, it is a temporary end until judgment day. Our mortal body ends when we die but for those in Christ the soul in its resurrection body lives for eternity. So how long is eternity? FOREVER! A forever beauty and glory. The Bible gives us hope that we will meet our loved ones in eternity. Reflecting that, the song writer Ben Webster writes 'In the sweet by and by we can meet on that beautiful shore.'

For Christians, death is an advancement, it is progressing into a better existence where there are no worries or problems. Apostle John in the book of Revelation 21 speaks of release from sorrows, suffering, fear, and illness.

All of us will die someday, but if you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour you will “…... dwell in the house of the Lord forever” (Psalms 23:6 (b))

Until you are prepared for death, you will never truly understand how to live. No trekker goes hiking unequipped, similarly only a fool would go through life completely unequipped for something that is inevitable.

The reality of hope for life-after-death alters everything in the here and now. God's promise in our verse that 'goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life' does not imply that life will be simple and it does not guarantee that you will always be content or always know what to do; and it certainly doesn't imply that you won't sin again. Instead it proclaims that you can face the future fearlessly with God.

God has taken care of life’s biggest issue, our sin! If we follow him, we have the assurance that goodness and love will be ours FOREVER.

Prayer — Lord, prepare me for the life in eternity by helping me to lead a renewed life on earth.
