Taking Action

Matthew 7: 24-27 (NIV)
‘Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like the wise man who built his house on the rock.’

In yesterday’s devotional, we looked at vision and goal setting. The next step for us is taking Action. Today’s Bible verse is one of my all-time favourites and the principle is key to achieving success in all that we do. Jesus was speaking to the crowds and knew that for people’s lives to be really changed by what he said, they needed to put his words into practice.

Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon once said: ‘Ideas are easy. It’s the execution that’s hard.’ During my years in business, I have had many people come to me with ideas and dreams and my response is always the same; ‘Just go for it!’ It is better to fail whilst trying then to not try at all.

One day in 2016 whilst holidaying in Italy with a university friend’s family, his wife started to talk to me about her dream of designing a Maths education game for pre-school children (she is a Maths teacher). On the last day, we were standing on the beach and I asked her if she was going to leave her dream behind on that beach or do something about it. A few months later ‘The Curious Dragons’ was formed and I even invested. Although the business has not made anyone rich, it has been a fun journey and the product has since been signed to an educational distributor. Most importantly, we are all wiser because of the journey.

When the Lord give us visions, he expects us to act.

Prayer - Lord I pray that you will give me the courage to Go For It!
