Testify!

Revelation 12:10-11 (NLT)—

‘Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens,

'It has come at last— salvation and power and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down to earth— the one who accuses them before our God day and night. And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.''

In July I went back to Australia and my parents generously let me borrow their car, a recent model from Mazda. Quite a change from my old Ford Fiesta which is held together by zip ties and gaff tape. Their car has this infuriating feature where it yells and beeps at you whenever you creep over the speed limit. Therefore, as I’m a leadfoot driver, this noise became the soundtrack to every road trip I took to the beach. Just one kilometer over the limit and off it went “BEEEPPP!” accusing me of my sins.

In the book of Revelation, John gets an insight into things to come and the power of Jesus in the spiritual realms. He explains how the devil, the accuser, acts like the speed warning feature in my parents' car, beeping at every sin, taking great pleasure in pointing the finger and condemning us at every wrong turn. The conviction of the Holy Spirit turns our eyes to the gospel of Jesus and leads us into repentance and freedom. However, the accuser simply turns our sins back to us and tries to leave us there.

But take note! The followers of Jesus daily defeat the accuser by claiming the victory bought with Jesus’ blood and by telling out their story of freedom from guilt. When we tell our story, we testify that Jesus is the great healer. We share how Jesus has set us free and forgiven us. How has Jesus set you free? What’s your testimony?

Over the next few days, I’m going to share some of my story and four specific verses of scripture God used to help me overcome the accuser and grow my faith. I pray that my testimony will help some others overcome too.

REFLECT and PRAY - There is POWER in your story. Ask the Holy Spirit to remind you of where he has worked in your life.

Father God give me an opportunity today to share my testimony with someone.
