The Armour We Wear

Ephesians 6:10-12 (NLT) —
‘A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armour so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.’
When I was younger, a friend told me she put on the armour of God every day. Every morning as she was getting ready, she would be clothing herself in God’s armour and praying. I used to giggle and think nothing more of it - I barely had time in the morning to eat breakfast, let alone clothe myself in a whole different outfit as well!
However, recently the Lord has been speaking to me about why the armour of God is so important to every one of us. It is my prayer that, as we journey this week through Ephesians 6, God would be revealing to you the importance of his heavenly armour and the gift it is to us.
As we look around the Church of Jesus so many incredible things are happening but at the same time there is undeniable darkness in the surrounding world. The metaphor of armour is God's way of reminding us that we are protected by heavenly means and even when we walk through the darkest valley, he is there with us and has equipped us to fight the darkness. God promises in verse 13 that even after exhausting battle we will be standing firm if we clothe ourselves in his armour.
The armour God has gifted you is tailor-made and is preparing you for any spiritual battle you may face. Although there aren’t enough days this week to cover every part of the scripture, my hope is that, as you journey with me, a new fire would be lit in you to discover more about God’s wonderful armour.
Prayer - Dear Lord, I pray that this week we may encounter more of you. For those struggling, may your spiritual armour strengthen them. For those hungry to know you more, may the armour be fresh fire and revelation.
