Romans 10:1-10

Be Still: Lord, I take time to still myself in your presence. Speak to me as I spend time in your Word. Amen

Read: Romans 10:1-10

'Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.' (v1-4)

Encounter: Before Paul became Paul, he was Saul of Tarsus. He lived life according to the Jewish law. He followed rules to the letter in order to please God and gain favour in his sight. He persecuted Christians who were preaching Christ crucified. That is until he encountered Christ on the road to Damascus in Acts 9. Saul, now Paul, has an encounter that changed everything.

Romans 10, starts off with Paul explaining his heart’s desire and prayer. The reason his heart was so burdened was that he knew what it was like to live life under the law. These were his people, and he understood just what a difference Jesus’ death and resurrection meant. He truly understood that a life of good works won’t grant them or us entry into heaven, only a life lived with Jesus.

We similarly have had encounters with Christ that changed everything. We were once dead and now we are alive. We have the best story to tell.

Apply: How can you share the best story ever told to your peers, work colleagues, family? Pray that God would provide opportunities to share the good news of Jesus.

Devote: Lord, I desire that my friends and family would come to know you. Would you open the doors today for an opportunity to share the gospel.
