Acts 2:1–21

Be Still: Thank you, Lord, that you are alive and always working. Help me to see you in these passages and open my heart to all you want me to know today. Amen

On the day of Pentecost all the believers were meeting together in one place. Suddenly, there was a sound from heaven like the roaring of a mighty windstorm, and it filled the house where they were sitting. (v1)

Encounter: Before Pentecost the disciples were told not to leave Jerusalem until they had received the Holy Spirit. So, in obedience they stayed, waited and continued to meet to pray and worship in expectation.  On Pentecost, they were praying when suddenly God broke in, pouring out his Spirit on all of them. Throughout the book of Acts as we read on, we will see a continuing theme of believers coming together to pray and the Spirit of God suddenly breaking out in signs and wonders. 

For the past few months, across the different locations of Gas Street church, we have held a prayer night called 'Kingdom Come'. This is where people come together to pray for an outpouring of the Spirit — people gathering in faith, believing that the 'suddenly of God' will break out into the city and beyond. In recent 'Kingdom Come' evenings, God has been pouring out his Spirit through prophetic words, dreams and visions. As people come expectant, hungry and ready, the Spirit of God meets with them. 

The Spirit of God is moving today and desires to meet with a hungry, devoted and willing church. He desires to give dreams, visions and prophecy to both the young and old. Whenever you are based, I would encourage you to continue gathering with others in your church, praying, believing for the 'suddenly of God.' 

Apply: In these next few months, who could you gather with, believing for an outpouring of the Spirit?

Devote: Thank you, Lord, for your Holy Spirit and that you come to all those who ask. Would you continue to meet us as we gather and pray. May we see your prophetic vision, dreams and words poured out from the church.
