Colossians 3:12-4:1
Be Still: Loving Father, clothe us with your grace as we come to your Word. Teach us to live in love and reflect Christ in all we do. Amen
Read: Colossians 3:12-4:1
And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. (v14)
Encounter: Paul describes what the new life in Christ looks like in everyday relationships. As God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, we are called to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. These qualities reflect the character of Christ and reveal the transforming work of grace within us.
Forgiveness stands at the centre of this new life. Just as the Lord has forgiven us, we are called to forgive others. This is not always easy, but it keeps our hearts aligned with God’s mercy. Above everything else stands love, holding all these virtues together and giving them meaning.
Paul then speaks about the peace of Christ ruling in our hearts and the word of Christ dwelling richly among us. Gratitude becomes the natural response to God’s grace. Our worship is not confined to church but expressed in everything we do, whether in speech, work or relationships.
Even ordinary responsibilities become acts of service to the Lord. When Christ is at the centre, everyday life becomes holy ground.
Apply: This passage challenges us to consider how our faith is visible in daily life. The character of Christ should be seen most clearly in how we treat others. Kindness and patience are not optional extras but essential marks of Christian maturity.
Today we can choose to put on these virtues intentionally. We can speak with grace, act with humility and forgive generously. As we do, the peace of Christ will guide us and gratitude will grow within us.
Devote: Father, clothe me with compassion, kindness and love. Let the peace of Christ rule in my heart and shape my relationships. Help me serve you faithfully in everything I do.
