A God That Is Faithful To Us

Hebrews 11v11 (NKJV)

By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age because she judged him FAITHFUL who had promised.

God is always faithful to his promises, but he often surprises us in the way he fulfils them’ – Pope Benedict XVI

Now it is no surprise to anyone who knows me well that the Bible verse above is one of my all-time favourites. For me the verse paints such a beautiful picture of what a 'God faithful to us' means. Earlier in the Sarah/Abraham story a promise had been made that Sarah would have a son. Genesis 18v9 (NLT) the Lord says to Abraham, ‘I will return to you about this time next year, and your wife Sarah will have a son!’ 

The Bible goes on to say that Sarah had been eavesdropping and laughed silently to herself when she heard this. She did not believe this to be possible at all. The Lord had to say to Abraham ‘Why did Sarah laugh? Is anything too hard for the Lord?’

Nothing is too hard for the Lord in our lives, and we serve a God that is fiercely faithful to all that he has promised over us. The only thing we need to be aware of is that he is faithful but not predictable. He works in mysterious ways. He works in ways that we often cannot see. We can trust God with our tomorrow because he was faithful with our yesterday. 

I don’t know what you are believing God for today, but I just want to remind you again that he is FAITHFUL. Let faith rise again within you to unapologetically believe God’s word and promises over you. I understand that at times we may feel like Sarah and want to 'laugh in disbelief' at what God speaks over us, but I want you to believe again. Let any form of disappointment disappear today as you hold confidently onto the faithfulness of God.

Prayer — Lord, I thank you so much that you are a faithful God. Give me the strength today to believe in all your promises and plans for my life and help me never to forget that nothing is too hard for you.
