A Temple
1 Corinthians 6:19 “Do you now know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?”
We live in a world that teaches us about limits. For everything that is possible, comes a whole host of things that are deemed impossible. Yet, from the youngest of ages, we seem wired to revel and delight in dreaming and fantasising about the impossible becoming possible. There are multibillion-pound industries built on the acting out of supernatural, impossible, and magical stories.
What if each of us were closer to being superheroes that it first appears? What if the outworking of the impossible was a little more in our reach than we sometimes allow ourselves to believe?
The Bible teaches us that we are a temple to the Holy Spirit. The same Spirit and power, as we read in Romans 8:11, that rose Jesus from the dead. You are a divine host, temple, of the miracle-working power of the God of the universe. The very impossible-made-possible power that franchises like Marvel build their entire existence upon, is in you!
He’s no superhero, but I love the moment in The Lion King when Simba realises that his father’s spirit and power is living in him. Simba’s awareness of this propels him into action to achieve what he previously believed impossible and win back Pride Rock.
Each of us face our very own impossible challenges from time to time, sometimes daily. But the significant plot-twist is that living in us, is the miracle-working power of The Holy Spirit. If we can continually be asking the Holy Spirit to be filling us, and working through us, we can believe for significant, powerful, and impossible change in the circumstances we face.
Pray: Ask The Holy Spirit to fill you afresh today with his power, declare again that you are ready and willing to be a temple of Gods miracle-working power.
Respond: When you are faced with a challenge today, pray in the power of His Spirit for supernatural change.
