Day 60 — Life Beyond Usual
Acts 20:24
’Life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus – the work of telling others the good news about God’s mighty kindness and love’
Sharing the good news as Jesus intended simply looks like inviting your world into a new adventure. An adventure where brokenness is restored, where sickness isn't tolerated and where dreams are released. To a life that leads beyond what we could do in our own knowledge and strength.
A few weeks ago I was really struggling to find opportunities to put this into action. No more waiters to encourage, no more strangers to bump into. Then one day as I went out on my daily run (truthfully, at this point it's weekly!) I decided just to take the opportunity that I had at that moment. Albeit through panting of breath and a sweaty brow, I shared with a few strangers what I felt God had in store for them and surprisingly ended up getting pray with them. It was awkward and exhausting but so worth it.
Opportunities may look different as a life post lockdown emerges, but how can we continue to share this good news? Voice memos of encouragement to friends, stories of what God's doing in your life to neighbours might just lead to inviting someone into this adventure.
Your world is filled with people we could never reach as a church.
Just like the passages we’ve been reading in Acts, the sharing of these invitations was never meant to be confined inside the walls of the church.
Remind yourself today that you've been invited into a relationship with God that no awkward encounter can diminish. He has given you a life that must be shared.
Prayer — Lord, show us who you want to speak to as we go about our days. Help us overcome the awkwardness of sharing this good news. Help us to be bold. Amen!
