Forgiveness

This week's devotionals are based on quotations from broadcast messages of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II , as we give thanks for her long life of faith, duty and service.

Ephesians 1:7,8a  —

'In Him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us.'

"Forgiveness lies at the heart of the Christian faith. It can heal broken families, it can restore friendships and it can reconcile divided communities. It is in forgiveness that we feel the power of God’s love.” — The Queen 2011

This is the most beautiful gift God gives us in the death of his Son -forgiveness: the wiping away for ever of everything we've done wrong, tearing down guilt and replacing it with profound peace, the promise that God chooses to FORGET every one of our sins as we receive his salvation. And as we rejoice in his 'forgetfulness' of our sin, perhaps it's time we forget as well as forgive offences against us.

 Matthew 6:12

'And forgive us our debts as we also have forgiven our debtors.'

Prayer - As we receive your forgiveness, help us to forgive others.
