Together Again
This week's devotionals are based on quotations from broadcast messages of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, as we give thanks for her long life of faith, duty and service.
2 Corinthians 5:18—
‘God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.’
"The gift I would most value next year is that reconciliation should be found wherever it is needed. A reconciliation which would bring peace and security to families and neighbours at present suffering and torn apart. Remember that good spreads outwards and every little does help. Mighty things from small beginnings grow, as indeed they grew from the small child of Bethlehem." — The Queen 1976
In a world broken and divided we have never needed a message of reconciliation more than we do today. From personal grievances to international war-zones, cycles of hatred and unforgiveness damage our humanity profoundly. The Queen reminds us that small acts of reaching out to one another, mending bridges and forgiveness can grow from a tiny seed to impact families, communities and even countries.
Our inspiration begins and ends in the person of Jesus Christ who reconciled us to God and continues to work in us through his Holy Spirit. As Paul says in his letter to the Corinthian church, Christ’s love compels us to bring that reconciliation wherever it is needed.
Prayer - Father give me your heart of reconciliation towards those around me: use me to bring hope and peace amongst those with whom I live and work.
