Not Just Another Monday

Ephesians 3:20 (ESV)
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us...
One particularly windy morning, I was on the bus to work, staring a bit depressed out of the window, not expecting much of the day, slightly annoyed by poor weather and bad traffic. In that moment, I remember the Lord asking me where my expectancy had gone. I hadn’t realised it before, but for a while, each day as I set out for work, I had lost any sense of expectancy.
It’s easy to set our expectancy by our daily routine, whether that be dropping the kids off to school, going to work, completing the list of dos…I realised that I had been basing my expectancy on every previous Monday.
I know this might sound cheesy, but Monday is not ‘just’ a Monday when God is in it. And that's true of every other day of the week. Each day is filled with countless opportunities to see God move. To learn more about his presence in our everyday lives. In the everyday and mundaneness of life, I had forgotten the God who walks with me daily. Forgotten that the same God who spoke and the world was created, breathed and bones came alive, is with me. That same God is with you!
I have felt the urge each time I wake up, to fix my mind on who God is, and who I am facing the day with. To allow thoughts of him to begin to build my expectation for the day. To bring me to a place of expectant prayer for God to move not only in my life, but in the lives of others today.
So, today and tomorrow when you wake up, remind yourself of the God who is with you.
Prayer - Lord, I’m sorry when I have limited you in my mind each day. Help me to be more aware of your presence and to grow in expectancy.
