John 18:12-27
Be Still: Lord, help me to be still before you. Help me to listen. Help me to receive. I ask that you transform my heart and my mind as I choose to spend this moment with you today. Amen.
Read: John 18:12-27
'I have spoken openly to the world,' Jesus replied. 'I always taught in synagogues or at the temple, where all the Jews come together. I said nothing in secret.' (v20)
Encounter: As Jesus stood before the high priest for questioning, he made it clear that his message was and had always been public. There was no secret doctrine or teaching that could be revealed under interrogation. His words were for all to hear, reflecting God's heart that the message of truth is supposed to be shared, not hidden.
Jesus' example challenges us to explore how we're living out our faith. Are we open about our relationship with him, or do we tend to hide it out of fear, embarrassment or discomfort? Over the years, there have been too many times in my own life where I've avoided mentioning that I went to church at the weekend for fear of a debate or judgment from a stranger. I've missed many opportunities to share the love of Jesus with others.
In a world where truth is often contested, manipulated, or silenced, Jesus invites us to confidently stand firm in his Word and reflect his light. We should live in a way that our lives become a testimony of God's goodness, and we share the love of Christ without shame.
Apply: Take a moment to explore whether you’ve hesitated to share your faith with friends or at work. Ask God to reveal any areas of fear, apathy, insecurity, hypocrisy or failure. Ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom and courage to bring healing and strength!
Devote: Lord, thank you for the truth of your Word. Help me to live in the light, unashamed of my faith and always ready to share your love. Give me boldness, wisdom, and grace to speak truth in a way that draws others to you.
