Luke 3:1–14
Be Still: Lord, quiet my heart and mind. Help me hear your voice above all others and guide me in truth. Amen.
Read: Luke 3:1–14
He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. (v3)
Encounter: John the Baptist preaches boldly in the wilderness, calling people to repentance. He does not shy away from naming the need for honesty, integrity, and change.
I think we often underestimate the importance of reflection and correction in our own lives. We can become comfortable with habits or routines that keep us spiritually distracted or shallow. John’s message challenges us to face ourselves honestly. Repentance is not a one-off act but a daily posture of heart that looks inward, confesses, and reorients toward God.
Repentance also creates space for God’s forgiveness and restoration. As people came to John, they acknowledged their failings and received a pathway to transformation. Similarly, we are invited to approach God with open hands and hearts, ready to release what no longer serves his purposes and embrace his guidance.
Even in the wilderness, in the midst of discomfort or uncertainty, God is at work through voices of truth. He calls us to step away from the noise of everyday life and tune into his guidance, trusting that real change comes from him, not from human effort alone.
Apply: What parts of my life need turning? Are there areas where I need to confess, release, or change direction to align with God’s heart?
Devote: Lord, help me to turn toward you daily. Cleanse my heart, refine my actions, and give me courage to live with honesty and integrity before you.
