Lean On Me

Lamentations 3:55-57 (NIV) —

‘I called on your name, Lord, from the depth of the pit. You heard my plea: ‘Do not close your ears to my cry for relief.’ You came near when I called you, and you said, ‘Do not fear.’

I would love to be super holy and say in times of struggle I remember God is enough and all I need. In 2019 I needed his provision big time. My family were facing the loss of my nephew. One day I met my best friend at the local tube station. What started as a simple hug of greeting turned into this - my friend physically holding me up while I just sobbed. There on the street in London I was sobbing, my legs buckled and God provided someone to hold me. To remind me that in my pain he saw me and wept with me.

In those days, and sometimes since, I have been angry with him or hurting but I know he still holds me closely. It’s ok to be raw with God. He wants us to come to him no matter what. To reach out for help from a friend. Or notice the person who just needs someone to walk alongside them.  There is power in community.

Prayer - Father, as I walk through today help me see people through your eyes. Lead me to someone who needs to be seen and heard. Give me courage to reach out in my struggle so I can be seen and heard.
