Open Spaces

Genesis 26:22(NIV)

‘He moved on from there and dug another well, and no one quarrelled over it. He named it Rehoboth, saying, 'Now the LORD has given us room and we will flourish in the land.’

I love dreaming. I’ve always had a wild imagination and this has led to some very interesting dreams throughout the years. There was a moment when I realised God sometimes communicates with me through my dreams. Since then, I’ve made it a habit every morning to write down everything I remember from the night before.

One series of dreams and visions I’ve been having recently is centred on the word ‘rehoboth’. Rehoboth is a Hebrew word that means ‘broad places’. In these visions and dreams I see painted scenes of nature, boundless fields, expansive oceans, beautiful deep wells teeming with potential to be filled.

I wonder if some of you today resonate with these images. Perhaps your heart feels like a deep well, waiting to be filled. Over the course of this week, I’d love to share with you what God has laid on my heart about preparing our souls to be filled with his presence.

Maybe some of you reading this don’t really believe you have a life-dream or calling. May I encourage you with this saying: ‘God had a vision, and then wrapped it in flesh to create you.' This is the human story: every single one of us, carries purpose– it is carefully woven by God into our spiritual DNA.

I pray you are reminded today that nothing is ever wasted with God. When the word of God goes out, it never returns empty and will always accomplish what it set out to do. Don’t discount those ‘dead dreams’ just yet. I pray throughout this week that God begins to breathe onto those dry lands in your life. I pray he reminds you, that he has given you a space to live in, a garden that is your soul, and that now it’s time to plant.

Prayer Dear Lord, thank you for your word. Thank you for the beautiful gifts you have given to me. May I be sensitive to your voice today; remind me of the promises you say over me. Expand my vision and my faith and prepare me to be filled with your glory.
