The Privilege Of Prayer

John 14:13-14 –

‘And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.’

It's a new year and looking back on 2020 I know without prayer I definitely would not have made it through. It gives me hope that 2021 will have so many positives.

However, I know trusting the process of prayer is not easy. I was thinking back to when I prayed about various decisions or situations: it was great when I got an answer and, even better when I got a quick answer.

But what about the prayers that seem to be falling on deaf ears, or a year like 2020 when it was one bad thing after another? Well, it got me thinking about when I pray for loved ones who don’t follow Jesus, wanting them to experience the love of Christ; a prayer I am sure many of you can relate to. It can seem like the impossible prayer.

One of my cousins from the list of many that we pray for, took 24 years of prayer. I just need to say it again so it can really sink in, 24 years before he came to Christ. He said he knew we were praying but he wasn't ready to walk with Jesus. However, I believe it was the prayers that kept him safe, at peace and even more importantly from making major decisions that could have impacted his life negatively. So when it feels like God is not listening, it’s the same old thing and the same prayer, just know he hears you and is working on things you can’t even see. His timing is the best!

So keep praying, totally trust God and trust the process of prayer.

Prayer – Lord last year has proved a little different; it has felt at times like a relentless push back, but I trust all that you are and everything you have in store for me for 2021.
