Hebrews 3:7-19
Be Still: Lord, speak to me through your Word today. Soften my heart and help me hear your voice clearly. Amen
Read: Hebrews 3:7-19
But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called ‘Today,’ so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. (v13)
Encounter: One of the values shared by our church team is 'encouragement fuels the fire.' That phrase sticks in my head because of the truth that it communicates. Encouragement sustains us when the road feels long. In seasons of weariness, it’s often the very thing that helps us get out of bed. In moments of insecurity, a timely word can cut through the lies. And when following God feels hard, the faith and encouragement of fellow believers can lift our eyes back to our Saviour Jesus.
But hearing God’s voice of encouragement isn’t always easy. At times his presence can feel distant or unclear, and discerning his leading in a moment can be challenging. That’s why firstly, God has blessed us with the Bible - his words that are the truth on which we can build our life. But secondly, he places us in a family of believers who can speak encouragement to us and ‘fuel the fire’ of faith in our lives. These words aren’t a replacement for God’s voice, but a gift alongside it – they can be a reminder that God isn’t holding out on us and will help dispel fear, doubt, and insecurity.
Apply: Are there areas of your life where you need someone to speak truth and bring life? How can you intentionally both give and receive encouragement this week?
Devote: Lord, thank you for the gift of community. Keep my heart soft and open to your truth. Help me to receive encouragement humbly and to offer it generously.
