It Is Good

Psalm 73:28 (NRSV)
It is good for me to draw near to God.

During this year, one of the beautiful revelations and reminders I have had, is how good it is to always draw near to God. I love the way this verse says, ‘it is good’. We live in a world that is so full of distractions, from the moment we wake up to the moment we go to sleep, that this simple act of drawing near can at times be lost. Lost amongst our to do list, our emails, our demands for the day, week, or month.

The drawing near I am talking about is the one-to-one intentional time that you have with Jesus, communing with him, worshipping him, meditating on his Word. This precious time leads us into a place of calmness and stillness where we meet with him, talk with him, and share our heart and mind with him.

I don’t want us ever to forget that it is good. Drawing near to him should never become a tick box exercise, a neglected practice, or something that we take for granted. I pray that this next season and for all your life seasons, you will be able to soak in his presence and experience the Lord pouring his unfailing love upon you.

It truly is good to draw near to God, the truth that I have had planted deeply in my heart this year. May he plant it in yours.

Prayer - Lord, how sweet is your presence. We thank you that you desire to be near to us.  In the remaining months of this year, let me remember how good it is to draw near to you and be in your presence.
